Amala has been my favorite actress from my childhood. I grew up watching her movies and my love for her just blossomed with her every stint.

She happens to visit our campus to attend an Eco-Fest and this turned out to be my best chance to see her. Luckily, there was no much crowd and I could manage to introduce myself and shake hands with her. I felt so jubilant for having met my most adorable actress and person.

Clad in a simple cotton kurthi and jeans, she looks terrific. In my opinion, her simplicity is her beauty asset, which is unbeatable by any Miss India. Her handshake has been very warm with a heartfelt smile in her eyes! Below is her picture

Why am I crazy about her?

These parameters alone cannot define my liking for her! However, a small attempt to word my thoughts..

  • Attitude – How many people from Film fraternity would think of serving the society after retiring from movies? Other than reforming as politicians or small screen actresses or being lost, there are hardly any visible stars. Amala is a trend setter and her seamless passion to save this globe in the possible ways has been outstanding.

  • Loyalty – A very loyal wife. No more comments about this aspect

  • Movie Experience – I noticed that she always chose offbeat roles with vital importance. Be it Pushpak or Nirnayam or Gharshana, she was the most sought after actress for the top-notch film directors in this country.

  • Pretty Woman – She is very pretty indeed! I can still claim that she looks her best till date.

  • Dressing Sense - How many of you have noticed Amala in any filmy celebration? She is always dressed in a cotton saree or chudidar and wearing that lovely smile which is very much Indian!

I beg to differ...Amala had an affair with the much married nagarjuna, who later divorced wife Lakshmi to marry her.She cares about animals and environment but not about a woman who was also a mother of a small kid at that time.Amala knew naga nd his wife at a social level, and then she marries him. What kind of a woman is she??Today she is doing animal welfare to stay in news. Most of these actresses are hyprocrites.
Sorry to hurt your feelings because u are an amala fan.

I admire Juhi Chawla, Madhuri Dixit, and Kajol for living their lives with so much dignity.
Nag's first wife is lovely but nobody knows about her because she chooses to keep silent. She is an interior designer by profession.People like her should be eulogised not amala....

I'm sorry, I skipped the post to see the pics. The fascination of seeing her during shooting way back in the day of 'Shiva' still continues.

And man she still look pretty eh.

Very true. She is always very elegant and refined. She brought a lot of classiness to the silver screen, and brought dignity to even the most crappy roles. Highly underrated. Glad, she's carving her own path now too !

Nagarjuna's first wife.. She is beautiful, dignified, and non-filmy. Never used the press to talk details about her broken marriage. Brought up her son single-handedly all these years. She is also a successful interior designer:)

@ anonymous: Its nice to see that Nag's first wife has been a successful and single lady. My intention about Amala has nothing to do with her personal life. so you better stop posting such comments putting her down!

I am the greatest Maneka Gandhi fan, and I would ve appreciated amala also but...its difficult for me to accept her as some pious creature working towards social causes.I know u are her fan..and it would hurt you, so I am sorry for hurting you..but let the world know what many people dont know!(becoz nag's first wife chooses to stay low-profile). But to me character and good deeds go together...

Amla is just another star wife who stays married for money. She was having an affair with Rajnikant. Then she latched on to the married Nagarjuna.

His wife lives in Madras and is a pretty decent woman. Good for her that she dumped this cheapo Nagarjuna.

Nagarjuna is a slut and Amla calls her home a temple????? Yeah right. He will screw a tree if he could and she is staying because of the trappings. Door mat. She deserves it.

Nagarjuna and his first wife Lakshmi separated in 1986 right after the birth of Naga Chaitanya. Please do not glorify Lakshmi... anything that happens between a married couple will only be known to them... She remarried Vijay Raghavan from the TVS Iyengar family and settled down in Chennai. She has other children from her second marriage. Chaitanya predominantly grew up in Hyderabad itself (and in Nagarjuna's house under the supervision of ANR and Rama Naidu) and Amala is extremely fond of him. When she can love animals, loving humans and especially children would have come naturally to her. Thanks.

... I also meant to point out that Amala married Nagarjun in 1992, that is after a gap of 6 years is also something I meant to add to my previous comment...
    Thanks.

Naga Chaitanya grew up in Madras with his divorced mother. Nagarjuna himself admitted in magazine in 1996 that his greatest regret in life is that he could not give a normal life to his older son.I still have copy of that magazine.

Nagarjuna and lakshmi separated in 1987, a year after Chaitanya's birth. By then Amala was already Nagarjuna's "friend". Nagarjuna and Lakshmi divorced in 1991, when Nag was already involved with amala. By the way in 1988, Drama naidu, Lakshmi's father made a movie called Chinna Babu with his then son-in-law and amala.

Yes, Lakshmi has re-married. So?She re-married years after Nag did.
She has no children from second marriage, atleast didnt ve till 4-5yrs back. She is in her 40's now.

Naga Chaitanya moved to hyderabad after his 12th.

Amala was very much instrumental beaking up a marriage. Anyways, we know the state of her marriage now.

Here, i will like to add that Amala met Nagarjuna in 1987(same year he split with his wife). But he filed for divorce in 1991 and married Amala in 1992. Naga Chaitanya was brought up by his mother, Nagarjuna used to visit him during weekends.

My problem with amala is that she is very hypocritical. Why cant amala just accept that in the film world actresses do ve affairs with married heroes and leave it at that? If Nag was really her friend at that time she would ve helped him patch up with his wife. Instead, she said she was around him as a non-interfering friend!!

It just shows that she was waiting for this rich, successful man to get divorced so that she could latch onto him!! hahha

Anyways, amala-nag love story is old hat now. The latest news is the Nag-Tabu affair. I just hope Naga Chaitanya enjoys a more stable married life. Its ok to re-marry and be happy....but if u can be happy the first time only, isn't it always better?

    loyalty? Please...

Where was her's when she was a home wrecker. There is no justification to such people at all. You broke a family, period.

Hope she rots in hell :-)
